On Friday, October 28, IS BANKO reporter went to the Premier Company office at Zemlyanoy Val, 54/2. On Thursday Olga Rybina, the Acting Executive Director of the Premier Travel Service, informed BANKO that it was planned to resume the operation of the office that day.
And, in fact, about 11.30 the head of the building security service and the landlord representative, an Economic Crime Department agent and Darya Gorbunova, Deputy Director of the Premier Company since today, went there. VAO Intourist representatives also arrived, they wanted to know what the Premier Travel Service was going to do with the debt it owes to their company (see news of October 24). Olga Rybina appeared a bit later, while Albert Potapov, the head of the Company, did not show up.
Then the situation developed in the following way: they placed a call from the Premier Office to the security post to find out whether Company employees took out any property. According to the man on duty, they took out only bags with the freshly printed catalogue of the travel company. In fact, everything was in quite an order at the office of the Company: there were no obvious signs that any office equipment was taken away. Having learnt about it, the Economic Crime Department agent left, saying that the purpose of his visit was ‘the desire to save Company’s property’. He also stated that he would not provide any information about the course of preliminary investigation before it was over.
Then, Intourist representatives left the office, the workers of the Premier Travel Service assured them that Albert Potapov would contact to leadership of their Company in the afternoon. Olga Rybina and Darya Gorbunova stayed to sort out claims and complaints of travel agencies which arrived by fax in the course of the week. Once their work was interrupted by the girl from the NASTA Insurance Company. As Natalia Kucherova, the Director of the Travel Insurance Department of the Company, explained later, she brought a promissory note. ‘We have worked with Premier since March 2005 insuring their tourists,’ explained Mrs. Kucherova. ‘The travel company accumulated a small debt in October, and we informed its people about it as soon as in was possible.’
As for the Premier’s plans for the nearest future, Mrs. Rybina told the BANKO reporter that she hopes to turn on all computers, servers, and restore normal working process in the office to receive claims from travel agencies since Monday, October 31. Yet, it is not clear whether these plans are to come to life: the security man of the building said that the landlord was going to unilaterally cancel the rent contract with the Premier Travel Service ‘on the basis of non-fulfillment of some clauses of the contract.’ Yet, Mrs. Rybina promised that she would give a new telephone number on the Premier website to receive claims.
